The two sides shared 12 tries in an exciting encounter at The Stute and it wasn't until the last 5 minutes of the game that the Elks finally shrugged off a persistent Nottm Medics side.
A final score of 46 - 29 witnessed Ilkeston record another bonus point win that maintains their challenge at the top of the Pennant League 1 table which but for some unlucky reversals early in the season would be a championship challenge.
As it stands a top 3 finish is still up for grabs and this coming Saturday heralds a visit to close rivals Mansfield.
Ilkeston's try scorers were Pottinger (2), Rudkin (2), Smith, Stephenson and Lee Jones. Jake Lamb converted 4 and added a penalty.
A full report will follow later in the week.
