Festive sporting entertainment and all for a good cause

As Christmas dinner fails to digest for the 3rd day and it slowly dawns on you that there is nothing worth watching on the TV, why not come and join us at Ilkeston Rugby Club for the Kit Taylor Memorial match 2018 in aid of a good cause.

Kit was a fantastic club man and a great advocate of rugby for young people. This year’s match will see Ilkeston U23 take on Melbourne U23 in a game designed to give young senior players, who have recently finished playing Colts rugby and have gone away to university or who have drifted away from the game, an opportunity to pull on the jersey for their respective club whilst they are back home or during the festive period when they have more time on their hands.

Kick off 3pm at The Stute, Hallam Field Rd, Ilkeston. £3 entry with all funds raised going into a fund to support parents/players with bursaries to cover/part cover membership and kit costs to help reduce the financial barrier to young people playing rugby.

Many thanks to the organising committee consisting of Harry Taylor (Kit’s son who is to captain the Ilkeston team), Sarah Taylor (Kit’s wife), Tama Keane, Steve Foulkes and Carol Pringle. Many thanks also to Paul Shoebridge (Ilkeston RFC), Gary Rudkin (England Rugby Community Rugby Coach, Melbourne RFC) and Tim Wilbrahim (Melbourne RFC) who gave birth to this year’s match idea. The referee will be Aidan Smith, an old team mate and close friend of Kit’s.

A great chance to get some fresh air fresh, laughter and share memories of one of the all-time greats of Ilkeston RUFC - Kit Taylor.

There will also be a Colts game between the two clubs kick off 1pm.
