First round-up of the season and time to look back on the last year?

The way a team plays as a whole determines its success. You may have the greatest bunch of individual stars in the world, but if they don't play together, the club won't be worth a dime.
- Babe Ruth

Saturday
The Colts got their season off to a flier, an end to end match, with the win being clinched by an early contender for try of the season and a fantastic conversion.

A lot of new faces had a run out against a good Tamworth outfit in the final warmup to the season, the result didn’t go our way but there was some encouraging play for the coaches to see and showed which areas need a tweak before the trip to Matlock.

Sunday
Sunday saw the return of junior Rugby with the pitches full of laughter and enthusiasm from players and coaches, many thanks to our breakfast volunteers for keeping everyone nourished.

If someone had told us just how much taking on The Stute would change our whole lifestyle to this extent, would we still have done it?
Yes we would!!
We’ve worked more hours than you could imagine, organised more events and theme nights than we’ve ever done before, hosted weddings, scooter rallies, birthdays, christenings, funerals, BBQ’s, Sunday lunches, afternoon teas, you name it and we’ve done it!

Are we going to sit back and relax taking it easy this season?

No, the plans are in place for an even busier second year, our outside kitchen and bar will soon be completed so that big events such as Fireworks Night and the Foodfairs will be easier to get served at, the toilets at the end of the bar are currently being refurbished into a disabled and family friendly bathroom.

Elkstock will be with us next Summer, a weekend of live music, BBQ’s and Beer?
We’re constantly looking at how we can make The Stute the most family friendly social and sporting Venue in the area.

We’ve made so many good friends and had so much help from them and we’ve lent heavily on our old friends who we couldn’t have managed without.

Any ideas or suggestions would be welcome as we are still learning!!
So here’s to the 2nd year being better than the 1st.
