Following a thoroughly enjoyable festival at Mellish RFC, Ilkeston Rugby Club’s under 10s squad have been invited to attend the next round of the Leicester Tigers Prima Bowl on the famous turf of Welford Road this Sunday (19th November), at the conclusion of the Tigers v Sale Sharks game. The invitational event will see them play matches against Lichfield RFC, Shrewsbury RFC and Syston RFC.

Attracting over 70 entries each season, the Prima Tiger Cup is the largest and most prestigious single age group playing opportunity in the rugby calendar, and is now in its 22nd year.

The event, which champions the sport’s core values of Teamwork, Respect, Enjoyment, Discipline and Sportsmanship, features local festivals, such as the one attended by Ilkeston at Mellish, which are followed by invitational events at the home of the Tigers. The teams invited to the events at Welford Road are those deemed to have aligned closest to the core values.

In what promises to be a thoroughly enjoyable day for all involved, the under 10s players, along with their parents and coaches, will travel by bus en masse from The Stute to Leicester on Sunday afternoon, where they will take in the Tigers v Sharks game. At half time, the players will be invited onto the pitch for photographs to capture their special day.
