Another welcome encounter with Ashfield this last weekend was adapted so that Keyworth could enjoy a full set of matches, and they combined to play very good rugby. All in the general spirit of rugby of course. What has really worked for us this season is the general quality we are playing along with the local opposition, it can only bode well for the future. We need them to be playing to a high standard, and they need us to do likewise.
Of course, we set the bar relatively high ourselves. This was highlighted with the first score, Josh and Warren combining to pull off a 'proto-scissors'..........you had to see it to understand that statement. It shows that players are already beginning to develop a 'rugby brain'.
There then followed a series of well worked scores from both sides that can recycle well at the breakdown. A very entertaining couple of matches, made more so by ensuring that the players who are already fine ball carriers were able to develop their games by involving others in the team.
We play Ashfield again at the end of the season and it will be a very interesting encounter to see how far these two evenly matched sides have progressed.
