Moving the ball that little bit wider at the breakdown beginning to pay dividends

We welcomed Belper to The Stute today. A team with a number of excellent players, the visitors tested Ilkeston's defence frequently. There were a number of very good 'up front' tackles, but the memory of the day shall remain the many 'chase down' tackles by Ethan. He is certainly mean, he just doesn't want the opposition to ever score!

Once again a great display of attacking rugby from the boys. We tried to get the players to pass a bit further at the breakdown - this of course relies on the receiver standing wider and we just about got it in the warm up. It was brilliant to see this put into practice in match conditions.

Ollie got the 'team work' medal for the day, and he certainly deserved it for that reason, but truth be told, it also had a bit of a 'most improved player' to it.

Next thing to work on is the boys organising themselves at drills/warm up so that the coaches don't have to ensure the right numbers are in the right place to keep it running freely. But that will come, in general organisation is where the boys stand out at the moment.
