Excellent refereeing allows super rugby to be played

An excellent morning's rugby. Shaun and Scott were extremely pleased and proud of the boys in their team, as they played with a verve and passion. My bunch were also outstanding. Josh maintained his superb standard and example to the team and Devon, Ben, George, Bladen, Spencer and Max all had their best games of the season so far. Truly magnificent.

Obviously the boys take much of the credit, but so too do Melbourne, who provided two closely matched sides that meant the rugby on show was uniformly excellent. Take a bow as well, the referees. Between them they coached the boys as they reffed and were generous enough in knock ons and in touch to keep the game going. The referee on our pitch allowed the odd knock on to go, but then would blow up if there was a second by the same team in the play. Even handed and kept a nice balance between interrupting and letting the boys play.
