Ilkeston Under 8’s v Keyworth Under 8’s
By Joanne Clamp
Chilly morning champion rugby
This morning saw the under 8’s make the trip over to Keyworth rugby club to play our final game of the season, however, we still have two festivals to look forward to!
It was a chilly morning but this certainly didn’t affect the enthusiasm and there was some great rugby on show! Two teams played two games each with the Ilkeston players showing great sportsmanship and taking it in turns to make the numbers up for one of the Keyworth teams as they were one player short of two teams. Keyworth were an organised side defensively although it was clear that the Ilkeston sides were much more disciplined and aware with the offside rule!! Some excellent tagging from Noah in only his second game halted the Keyworth attack many times and some creativity and excellent vision from Zac saw some great passing to utilise the space and see players through to the try line. All in all there were four quick paced games which really showed how far the players have come in a season. Noah was our players player today, nominated by Harry for the core value of respect. Player of the day today was Charlie, a great performance from Charlie which resulted in him scoring numerous tries and making some great runs and passes. He also showed a real positive attitude today and brilliant resilience. Next up for the under 8’s is the Matlock festival on 28th April, letd hooe it’s a little warmer for that one!
