Away at moderns.

After a wet week where we were unsure as to whether there would be a game or not the U7s got the go ahead and to Nottingham Moderns we travelled on a bright sunny morning. We walked passed the first team lake at Wilford and took up our places beside the U16s match, just in case they needed some backup, obviously.
9 young elks came out so we borrowed a player from Moderns, cracking player he was too, and we were off. 2 pitches of beautifully executed rugby from all involved. Rolling subs were keen to get back on and we kept the whole game moving.
10.55 rolled around surprisingly quickly and play was paused as all players stood shoulder to shoulder for 2 minutes silence for Remembrance Sunday. The U7s stood calmly and respectfully and were a credit to Kyla, Louise, and I, Ilkeston rugby club, and the wider world of rugby.
The minutes ended and it was straight back into the rugby and a change of teams meant some new challenges, the young man who joined us for the first game decided he wanted to stay playing alongside the elks and what a compliment to the team that was!
All players represented excellently and there were some great team try’s with some amazing passing and running skills shown resulting in scores from Zain, Logan, Eva, and Mack. Player of the week, however, went to Gethin (photo) who displayed incredible listening skills, team skills, and sportsmanship.
