Ilkeston RUFC are proud to reveal our new playing shirts for the 2019-20 season. As I'm sure you know, our home ground is at "The Stute" which is so named because it was the Stanton Institute Sports and Social Club for the ironworks at Stanton.
In tribute to the men and women of iron that help build our town, we have incorporated the silhouette of the "New Works" at Stanton into our home and away shirts for next season.
Please share to help recognise the hard work and toil of the 1000s that worked there over the decades and that put Ilkeston not only on the map, but whose iron is often in and under the very ground that many of us walk on.
Many thanks to Danny Corns & Andrew Knighton (Authors of 'Stanton, gone but not forgotten') & The Ilkeston & District Local History Society, in particular their secretary Russell Gough, for their kind help and permission to use the image New Works Stanton 1972.
