U9 Training

Oh how we were soooo looking forward to getting the boys involved in some new training drills this week after 2 of the coaches attended the superb RFU CARDS course at Long Eaton on Friday evening. Yet it wasn't to be as the weather took hold overnight on Saturday meaning most of us (most importantly the training pitch) woke up to a couple of inches of snow. Partnered with the rain in the preceding week, this lead to the only option of calling off our training session. The photo from the clubhouse window on Sunday morning certainly painted a grim picture however we have actually played in worse (Bakewell, January 2018 anyone ?) but we always have to think of safety first
So, it was lies in and alternative activities for the day. Nevermind, I say, as we all have very busy lives and the opportunity to have a relaxing Sunday morning was actually appealing once the initial disappointment had passed. We have actually been quite lucky this season overall. So no rugby to speak of but I must take the opportunity, whilst going to the effort of writing a "match" report for no match (!), to congratulate all those taking part in the "BIG PACK". I don't mean our forward line but all those participants in the packing of shopping at Ilkeston Morrisons supermarket on Saturday afternoon. Credit to you all for taking time (again) out of your busy lives to help contribute to our Rugby club. It was very rewarding to see how well mannered and polite all our boys (and parents) were. This lead to a fantastic response from the public and some extra funding for us which well benefit the whole U9 team. Massive shout out to those who helped set it up (Caroline and Claire G and others) as these things don't occur by accident. Huge thanks to all the parents who basically packed most of the shopping and I do believe there wasn't a broken egg or squashed loaf to be seen ! Great effort from a great team of players and parents. Top class.
