The Elks made a dreadful start and were 12 points down with only 3 minutes gone curtesy of 2 early tries
Steve Quinn returned well from the kick off but Elks could not find a way through a resolute Scouts defence
Elks had plenty of possession but no cutting edge to make that vital breakthrough, things were to get worse when Scouts added to their lead with further tries on 25 and 27 mins, both of which were converted making it 0-26 to the Scouts
Elks did manage the last score of the half through a Joel Haigh penalty following a high tackle leaving the half time score at 3-26
Elks had the slope second half but would need some performance to get back in the game
It was all Elks in the opening minutes but still the Scouts defence stood strong, it was finally breached after the Elks worked the ball through several phases with Hugh Smith eventually touching down in the left corner, extras missed making it 8-26 after 55 mins
Elks came back again and had all the possession but had to wait a further 10 minutes before Smith scored his second try, extras missed making it 13-26 after 65 mins
Scouts responded well with decent ball in the Elks 22, they worked a blind side move from a scrum and scored in the left corner, extras added making it 13-33 after 75 mins
Elks finished the game off in the Scouts 22 but could not find gaps in a well organised defence, final score 13-33
Despite seeing the majority of the ball the Elks struggled to break down a stubborn defence and combined with a dreadful first 20 minutes left themselves far too much to do in the second half
Not too many highlights from the game but Man of the Match goes to Simon Bennett who put in a great shift and took the game to the Scouts with numerous ball carries
Have a great Xmas and New Year and see you all in 2016
