Elks entertained Market Rasen on a glorious spring day and blew them away with some fantastic open running rugby to complete a 38-5 victory

Elks started with the slope and made all the early running, Jake Lamb made the first of many line breaks and fed Chris Tipton who was not to be stopped from about 8 metres out crashing over for the first try on 8 mins, Jono Falls added the extras to make it 7-0.

Rasen responded well with their hard running centre involved, he was well covered by I Taylor & Paul Stevenson and could find no way through, Elks were soon back on top with long spells in the Rasen 22, from an attacking scrum Falls broke and fed Adam Corcoran who passed to I Taylor then quickly back to Falls in space to score in the corner, Falls missed from wide left to make the score 12-0 after 25 mins.

Elks were straight on the attack from the kick off through Taylor and Lamb but play was halted when the elks knocked on, Rasen attacked from the scrum but strong defence turned the ball over, Elks finished the half well with Tom Pottinger making a great break and sliced open the Rasen defence, he showed fantastic pace and strength to run in and score under the posts, Falls with the extras making it 19-0 at half time.

Rasen had the slope second half looking to get back in the game, they kicked ball long using the slope to gain territory, Elks were counter attacking well through Jacob Heath and Taylor. Elks again had good possession through Ayres but were turned over in midfield and Rasen counter attacked, Elks were penalised for a high tackle and Rasen kicked to the corner, they used their trademark catch and drive well and scored in the right corner after 63 mins, extras missed making it 19-5.

Elks came back strong with Corcoran scoring after a series of forward drives on 70 mins, Falls slotted the conversion to make it 26-5.

Elks finished the game with a flourish and scored the try of the match when Heath counter attacked from deep, beat 2 men and passed to Pottinger who drew the last defender and fed Lamb for an easy run in, Falls with the extras making it 33-5 after 75 mins.

There was still time for a final score following good work from the forwards, quick ball found Lamb in space, he made 20 metres before passing to Heath to finish off the move, Falls hit the post with the conversion making the final score 38-5.

Some great running rugby from the Elks on a sunny day providing superb entertaining for the crowd, the forwards worked hard to give a good platform for the backs with Corcoran showing up well, Man of the Match however goes to Dan Rollins who made numerous hard running ball carries well throughout the game.

Elks finish in 5th place in the League which was a great effort considering the amount of injuries throughout the season, next week sees cup action with a Derbyshire Cup semi-final against Ashbourne at both 1st and 2nd team level, it promises to be a great day so get down and support the Elks.
